Be careful before buying a budget kitchen

There’s an old principle that will always holds good - that you get what you pay for. Everyone buys their kitchen on a budget, just make sure that when you buy your budget kitchen you don’t end up with a shoddy one.

Most standard kitset kitchens are made from chip board (called Weetbix in the trade), which can absorb moisture and swell.  Look for cabinets made from moisture resistant MDF Melteca board, especially in the wetter areas of the kitchen.

Consider also the quality of the finishing. Attention to detail can suffer in the effort to reduce prices. Less time spent finishing the product can equal less care taken and result in a poor finish that looks cheap.

Some budget kitchen manufacturers offer a less cheap kitchen system where better quality materials and the customisation of  cabinets to suit your space offers a much better result. With this system kitchen is made specially for you so you don’t have to worry about standard size cabinets not fitting your space.

Question the supplier of your budget kitchen carefully to make sure that you get the best result for your money. Do you really just want a cheap budget kitchen or would you prefer a better quality one that is great value?

What will your finished kitchen say to those walking into the room?  Cheap?  If you put value first rather just cheapness, you can achieve a budget kitchen that was cheap to buy but doesn’t look cheap.
